Bolts unstoppable at 4-0

Meralco Bolts still sits on the throne after driving four-straight wins in the PBA Governor’s Cup eliminations, upsetting KIA Picanto in 112-97 win at Smart Araneta Coliseum, August 6, 2017.


Allen Durham propelled a triple-double in the stretch—25 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds—which became the triumph factor of the Bolts to slay Picanto in its four-straight losses.


Meralco coach Norman Black believed they poured it all in the opening frame and settled excellently until the final quarter.


“We want to get in the top four to get a twice-to-beat advantage in the first round of the playoffs,” said Black.


KIA’s Markeith Cummings scored 20 points along with Reden Celda’s 17 points.


Chris Newsome produced 11 points in the opening frame which blazed Bolts breakaway, and ended with 19.


Meanwhile, Blackwater demolished Phoenix Petroleum in a 92-86 win with import Henry Walker going massive at 32 points.


“Our import gave us the inspiration,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac.


Mike DiGregorio who contributed 28 points made a strategic gameplay that made Elite look promising who hooked its first win in four games despite locals Art Dela Cruz deserted and Mac Belo performing inconsistently.
