F2: ‘It’s not over yet’

Updated: Aug 14, 2019

“We have to come out like we are ready to eat our opponents alive.”

This is how Aby Marano of F2 Logistics clinged to that hope of returning the damage in the next finals game against Petron for the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference bid.

Blaze Spikers smashed Cargo Movers in a set of 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 with a formidable lineup.

A good mindset might be the key to lift the whole team from the three-set defeat.

“You know our team. We have a way of coming back,” said Marano. She believed that their team “lost the fire” and became “too meek” that brought to their slump.

Despite having national team players in the squad like Marano, Kiana Dy, Kim Fajardo and top libero Dawn Macandili, F2 coach Ramil De Jesus rued about the lack of national team gameplay on their part last Tuesday.

“The adrenaline of the players in Game 1 was so high that they tend to commit mistakes,” said De Jesus.

Meanwhile Petron got Mika Reyes, Rhea Dimaculangan, Aiza Pontillas, and Ces Molina in their roster that captured 11 points in Game 1.

Blaze Spiker’s coach Shaq de los Santos doesn’t already consider statistics anymore.

“It’s no longer a question of skills or talent; it’s now a question of willingness and desire. Whoever wants it more would definitely win,” de los Santos said.

Worries might have settled having UAAP champs Majoy Baron, Desiree Cheng, Dy and Macandili in De Jesus’ crew.

“I know that they will come back and redeem themselves. It’s not over yet. The series won’t end on Thursday,” added De Jesus.
